Nine interesting civs are added, as well as Esponiage and a religion system. The combat is completely reworked, so that it's more thoughtful and exciting. Both expansions are fantastic, but Gods and Kings is truly necessary. But without the expansions, I certainly wouldn't continue to be hooked.Īlthough people say that both expansions are necessary, I suggest you focus on Gods and Kings. I have played Civilization V for more than 1300 hours, and I still continue to love it. Vanilla Civ 5 gets boring really quickly, and is, to be honest, quite a mediocre game - with both expansions, the game is fantastic.
